Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Our Sister's Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: [placeholder]). Your gift is fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You'll receive an official receipt by email immediately, and a year-end summary in January.
What percentage of my gift actually reaches survivors?
87¢ of every dollar funds programs that directly serve survivors — shelter, advocacy, counseling, legal help, children's programs. The remaining 13¢ keeps the lights on (housing, fundraising, administration). We publish our audited financials annually, and Charity Navigator rates us four stars.
Why is monthly giving better than one-time?
Recurring gifts let us plan ahead — hire counselors on staff instead of as contractors, sign longer leases at lower rates, and answer the 3 AM crisis line knowing payroll is covered. A $20/month sustainer is worth significantly more to us than a $240 one-time gift.
Can I donate anonymously?
Absolutely. Just check the "anonymous" box at checkout. We'll never publish your name, contact you for renewals, or include you in donor lists. We do still need your billing info for the transaction itself, but it stays internal.
Can I give in someone else's name — or in memory of someone?
Yes. Tribute and memorial gifts are common. We'll send a card to the person you're honoring (or the family of someone you're remembering), with no dollar amount mentioned. Add the recipient details on the next page.
How do I cancel or change my recurring gift?
Email donors@oursistersplace.org or call our donor line, and we'll handle it within one business day — no guilt, no upsells. You can pause, change the amount, or change the date. We want this to be easy.
I can't afford to give right now. How else can I help?
Volunteer your time at the thrift store, share our crisis line on social media, host a coat drive, attend a community event, or simply tell someone who's hurting that we're here. Money is one path. There are many.
Will donating put me on a mailing list forever?
No. We send a quarterly impact letter (which you can opt out of with one click), an annual report, and that's it. We don't sell, rent, or share donor information — full stop.
